My strategy to use the shell tool in a curved roof is to build a temporary wall the length and height of the extreme points, click on the wall to make the grey selection appear and freehand draw the curve with the pet pallet curve tools. I miss the fact some of the original roof tool features are put onto the shell tool instead the original roof tool allowed more ease to construct most types of curved roofs more precisely in the section view the shell tool works more easily in the 3D form which doesn't have the accuracy.
